Aquaro Histology develops innovative customer-centric products for the histology lab. Its first product, the Aquaro ASM, automates the transfer of paraffin-embedded sections directly from the microtome to slides. Description: Aquaro Histology Inc. is seeking a creative, collaborative, self-motivated individual with Histology experience to join our Quality Team. We are a startup company in Ann Arbor, MI developing, manufacturing and selling products & devices to streamline histology. We have released our first product this year, the Aquaro ASM, a hands-free section mounting device that, when paired with a microtome, automates the tissue sectioning and slide mounting process.


  • Tracks and labels tissue blocks upon receipt
  • Conducts problem resolution for specimen issues, communicates possible resolutions to the team as needed
  • Performs functions for histologic preparation of slides including but not limited to embedding, slide preparation, staining, labeling, and cover slipping
  • Assess quality of slides and prepare presentations to cross functional team as needed
  • Performs special stains as appropriate
  • Assists in establishing Quality Control policies.
  • Performs and documents required maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and test systems
  • Act as “voice of customer” for new projects or improvements of current devices
  • Monitor and order lab materials as needed with appropriate approval
  • Manage disposal of hazardous waste management of materials used and produced in quality department
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and professional under stressful situations
  • Be able to write, execute, document, and summarize test protocols
  • Support research and development characterization
  • Execute test protocols and complete documentation per good documentation practices
  • Ability to follow verbal and written request/instructions


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in clinical or research histology lab
  • Certified Histologist
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
